Pearu Sardar

Pearu Sardar was an influential leader in Dhaka, Bangladesh, particularly noted for his significant role in the historical Language Movement of 1952. During a time when the people of then East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) were advocating for the recognition of their language, Bengali, as an official language, Pearu Sardar emerged as a key community leader.

One of his most notable contributions was his involvement in the construction of the first Shaheed Minar, a monument built to honor the martyrs who died during the Language Movement on February 21, 1952. This monument was erected immediately following the tragic events of that day, under his sponsorship, marking a pivotal moment in Bangladesh's history. The Shaheed Minar now stands as a national symbol of pride and resistance, commemorating the sacrifice made by those who fought for the linguistic and cultural identity of the Bengali people.
